Each enteric coated tablet contains:
Diclofenac sodium 25mg 50 mg
Each 3 ml ampoule contains:
Diclofenac sodium 75 mg
Each suppositery contains:
Diclofenac sodium 100 mg

| Properties: |
|
Rheumarene is a non-steroidal anti
inflammatory preparation with analgesic and
antipyretic properties. It acts by
inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
Rheumarene combats inflammation, relieve
pain, tenderness and oedema. |

Rheumarene is rapidly & almost completely
absorbed. Peak plasma concentration is
attained after 2-3 hours & significant
concentration in the synovial fluid within
2-4 hours. The drug is 99% to plasma
protein. Given parent rally the peak blood
level is twice that of the same dose
administrated orally Hepatic impairment does
not affect the pharmacokinetic of
Rheumarene. The terminal half life time is
1-2 hours. It is excreted primarily in the
form of metabolites mainly in the urine but
also in the bile. |
| Indications: |
►Rheumatoid
arthritis,osteoarthritis,ankylosing
spondylitis.
►Acute
gout,
juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
►Various
rheumatic diseases : Bursitis, myalgia,
sciatica, tendinitis.
►Acute soft
tissue injuries:
sprain,strain.
►Dysmenorrhea,
headache,
migraine.
►Postoperative
& postpartum pain.
►Dental pain,
renal & biliary colics. |
| Contraindications: |
►Active peptic
ulcer.
►Hypersensitivity
to the drug or to any
NSAIDs e.g.
asthma,
urticaria or
acute rhinitis and
aspirin
sensitivity.

| Precautions: |
►Use with
caution in patients with history of peptic
ulcer.
►Use in
pregnant & lactating women requires that the
benefit of treatment be weighed against
possible isks to both mother & child.
Warning: Ampoules contain Sodium sulphite ,
a sulphite that may cause serious allergic
type reactions (e.g.hives, itching,
wheezing,anaphylaxis, sever asthma attacks)
in certain susceptible persons.

| Dosage & route of
administration & duration: |
Adults:
►Orally
:75-150mg daily in divided doses.
►Rectally:100mg(
one suppository )daily.
►I.M: 75mg (
one ampoule ) once daily & if required in
severe conditions 75 mg twice daily.
In renal colics a dose of 75 mg repeated
once after 30 minutes is given I.M.
Children:
The suggested dose by mouth for juvenile
chronic athritis is 1_3mg/Kg body weight
daily in divided doses.

| Side
effects: |
| Rheumarene is
well tolerated. Side effects are similar to
those of other
NSAIDS. G.I complaints
include epigastric pain,dyspepsia,
nausea & vomiting. Skin rashes and minor CNS side
effects like dizziness, drowsiness have been
reported. Abdominal liver function tests
have occurred in rare cases including
elevation of transaminase level & liver
enzymes. |
