Flucamox
( Capsules & Vials)

Composition:
Each capsule 250 mg contains:
Amoxycillin 125, Flucloxacillin 125mg
Each capsule 500 mg contains:
Amoxycillin 250, Flucloxacillin 250mg
   
Each vial 500 mg contains:
Amoxycillin 250, Flucloxacillin 250mg
Each vial 1000 mg contains:
Amoxycillin 500, Flucloxacillin 500mg
 
Properties:
Fucamox is a combination of two broad spectrum semi synthetic penicillin: Amoxycillin & Flucloxacillin.
Amoxycillin:
Covers a wide range of Gm-ve microorganisms. Unlike Ampicillin the absorption of Amoxycillin is not affected by the presence of food in the stomach. It also produces higher plasma and tissue concentration than those obtained by the same dose of ampicillin.
Flucloxacillin (isoxazolyl penicillin ):
Is resistant to penicillinase enzyme and thus it acts on penicillinase producing micro-organisms including most Staphylococci.
Flucamox is well absorbed from the G.I.T with high peak blood levels that last for more than 8 hours.
 
Indications:
Respiratory tract infections:
Pneumonia, Chronic Bronchitis, Bronchiectasis ( due to susceptible microorganisms).
E.N.T infections:
Sinusitis, Otitis media, Pharyngitis, Tonsilitis, Epiglottitis.
Gastrointestinal tract infections:
Enteritis, Bacillary dysentery, Typhoid, Paratyphoid, Biliary tract infections.
Genitourinary tract infections:
Cystitis, Pyelonephritis, Gonorrhea, Puerperal sepsis.
Skin and soft tissue infections:
Cellulitis, Boils, Carbuncles, Abscesses, Wound infections.
Osteomyelitis, Septicemia.
 
Side effects:
Allergic reactions as skin rash, indigestion, diarrhea may occur.
 
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to penicillin.
 
Dosage:
Oral:
250mg -1000mg / every 6-8 hours according to the severity of the infection (one hour before meals ).

By injection:
Flucamox has flexible dosage regimens, to be decided by physician.

The following is the recommended regimen.
Adults:
IM inj: 500-1000 mg / every 6-8 hours ( Dissolve 500 mg in 2ml or 1000 mg in 4ml water for injection )
IV inj: 500-1000 mg / every 6-8 hours ( Dissolve 500 mg in 5ml or 1000 mg in 10ml water to be given slowly I.V over 3-4 minutes )

Children:
1 month- 2 years: 1/4 adult dose
2 years-12 years: 1/2 adult dose

 
All injections should be used immediately after reconstitution with distilled water
 

Storage:
Keep at temperature not exceeding 30°C
Keep outof reach of children.
 
Presentation:
Box of ( 12 capsules, 100 strips each 4 capsules ) 250mg.
Box of ( 8 capsules, 12 capsules, 16 capsules, 100 strips each 4 capsules)500mg.
Box of 1 vial 500 mg .
Box of 1 vial 1g.
Box of 50 vials 500mg or 1000mg
