Composition:
Each tablet
contains:
Mebendazole...............................100
mg.
Each 5 ml of the suspension contains:
Mebendazole..............................100

Properties:
Mebendazole, a
benzimidazole carbamate derivative, is an
anthelminthic with activity against most
nematode and some cestode worms .It acts by
irreversibly inhibiting glucose uptake by
susceptible worms, resulting in depletion of
the worm’s energy sources, glycogen and ATP.
Mebendazole is poorly absorbed from the GI
tract. It is highly protein bound and
undergoes extensive first - pass
elimination, being metabolized in the liver,
and is excreted mainly in the feaces.
Indications:
► Treatment of
intestinal nematode infections; Ascariasis,
trichuriasis (round worm), entrobiasis
(threadworm)‚ hookworm infections
(ancylostomiasis and necatoriasis).
► Treatment of
mixed infections.
► Treatment of
hydatid disease.
Contraindications:
Mebendazole is
contraindicated during pregnancy and
lactation.
Precautions:
Patients
receiving high doses of mebendazole, such as
with hydatid disease‚ should be supervised
closely.
Side effects:
Transient
abdominal pain and diarrhea are very rare.
With very high doses, allergic reactions,
raised liver enzymes values, may occur.
Dosage & route of
administration & duration:
For Adults:
► One tablet
(100 mg) once in cases of entrobiasis.
► One tablet
(100 mg) twice daily for 3 days for
Ascariasis, hookworm and trichuriasis .
For children over 2 years :
► One
teaspoonful ( 100 mg) in cases of
entrobiasis.
► One
teaspoonful twice daily for 3 days for
Ascariasis, hookworm and trichuriasis.
Storage:
Keep at temp.
not exceeding 30ºC
Keep out of reach of children.
Presentation:
Box of 10 or
600 or 1000 tablets.
Bottle of 30 ml.
