Composition:
Each
capsules contains:
Amoxycillin(as trihydrate)……………..250 mg or
500 mg.
Each 5 ml of the reconstituted suspension
contains:
Amoxycillin(as trihydrate)……………..125 mg or
250 mg.
Each vial contains:
Amoxycillin(soduim)…………………...250 mg or 500
mg or 1000 mg.
Properties:
Amoxycillin is an acid
resistant, semi-synthetic penicillin with a
broad spectrum of activity.Biomox is
bactericidal to a wide range of G+ and G-
micro-organisms.
Amoxycillin is rapidly absorbed whether the
stomach is empty or not. Its peak blood
level is 21/2 times that of the same dose of
ampicillin.The therapeutic level lasts for
up to 8 hours.Biomox is widely distributed
in body tissues and fluids.
Indications:
► Respiratory
tract infections:
Pneumonia,Bronchitis,Broncho-pneumonia,Bronchiectasis,Sinusitis,Otitis
media,Tonsilitis,Pharyngitis,Laryngitis,……….etc.
► Gastro-intestinal
tract infections:
Enteritis,biliary tract
infections…………………etc.
► Genito-urinary
tract infections:
Cystitis,Urethritis,Gonorrhea…………………..etc.
► Skin and
soft tissues infections:
Cellulitis,Erysipelas,Boils,Carbuncles………..etc.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to penicillin.
Precautions:
As with any potent drug,
periodic assessment of renal, hepatic and
hematopoietic function should be made during
prolonged therapy. The possibility of super
infections with mycotic or bacterial
pathogens should be kept in mind during
therapy. If super infections occur, the drug
should be discontinued and/or appropriate
therapy instituted.
Dosage & route of
administration & duration:
► Adults:
-Mild infections…………………….250 mg every 8
hours.
-Moderate to severe infections……..500 mg
every 8 hours.
-Very severe infections……………..1000 mg every
8 hours.
► Children:
-Up to 10 years.............................125-250 mg
every 8 hours.
-Under 20 kg body weight............20-40 mg/kg daily
in 3 divided doses
► To reconstitute the dry powder
for suspension:
-Add distilled water to the bottle to the
mark and shake well after each addition.
-The reconstituted formulation is stable for
7 days.
-Shake well before use.
► To
reconstitute the vial:
-For I.M. injection, the powder is dissolved
in 2-3 ml of water of injection.
-For I.V. injection, the powder is dissolved
in 5-10 ml of water of injection.
-Reconstituted solutions for I.V. or I.M.
should be used immediately or within 2 hours
maximum if kept at room temp. within 24
hours max. if kept at 5 degree.
Adverse effects:
In rare cases diarrhea,
indigestion or skin rash may occur but such
cases are usually mild and transient.
Storage:
Keep at temperature not
exceeding than 30ºC.
Keep out of the reach of children.

capsules.
Box of one vial and 50 vials.
Bottle of powder for oral susp. 80 and 100
ml.
