Guaiphenesin is an expectorant which increases respiratory tract fluid secretion & helps to loosen phlegm & bronchial secretions, thus reducing sputum viscosity. Guaiphenesin increases mucociliary mechanisms in removing accumulated secretions from upper &
lower airway. Diphenhydramine is an antihistaminic that competitively antagonises histamine at the receptor site.
