Ketoderm
( Cream )
Composition:
Each 100 gm cream contains:
Ketoconazole……….........2gm
 
Properties:  
Ketoderm cream has a potent antimycotic activity against dermatophytes such as tricophyton Sp.,Epdermophyton floccosum and microsporum Sp.and against yeast.
 period.

Ketoderm cream acts very rapidly on pruritus which is commonly seen in dermatophytes and yeast infections.
This symptomatic improvement is observed before the first signs of healing are observed.
Ketoderm cream is not a primary irritant and is devoid of allergic, sensitization or phototoxic potential on topical application.
 

After application, ketoconazole is not detected at any appreciable amount in blood over 72 hours.

 

Indications:
Ketoderm cream is indicated for topical application in the treatment of dermatophytes infections of the skin:
Tinea corporis, Tinea cruris, Tinea manus,Tinea pedis due to tricophyton rubrum,tricophyton mentagrophytes,microsporum canis and epidermophyton floccosum as well as in the treatment of cuteneous Candidiasis and Tinea (pityriasis) versicolor.
Ketoderm cream also indicated for use in Seborrhoeic dermatitis, a skin condition often associated with the yeast P.ovale.
 
Dosage & route of administration & duration:
Ketoderm cream should be applied to affected areas once daily in patients with Tinea corporis, Tinea cruris, Tinea manus,Tinea pedis, Cuteneous Candidiasis and Tinea versicolor.

Ketoderm cream should be applied to affected area in patients with Seborrhoeic dermatitis once or twice daily depending on the severity of infection. Treatment should be continued for a sufficient period, at least until a few days after disappearance of all symptoms.

The usual durations of treatment is:
Tinea versicolor......................... 2-3 weeks
Yeast infections........................ 2-3 weeks
Tinea cruris.............................. 2-4 weeks
Tinea corporis........................... 3-4 weeks
Tinea pedis.............................. 4-6 weeks
Seborrhoeic dermatitis.............. 2-4 weeks

Maintenance therapy is applied once or twice weekly.
